Acronis PrivacyExpert Type Program for Linux
Hi. In Windows I have a program called Acronis Privacy Expert which automatically clears my documents lists, browser cache and history and all that fun stuff with one click of a mouse. In Linux, I have to go from browser to browser to get this done. Is there a similar program that can do thisfor me in Linux?
No such program exists, to my knowledge. If you stick to one web browser though, it shouldn't be very difficult to do. What is the point of such programs?

Well more than one person uses my computer, but all under one user account, and we all like using different web browsers. Plus, they wipe out the temp folders and all that, with one click of a mouse.
It would probably be hard to write a program like that for Linux tho as all the distros are a little different.

Why would I make my mom her own account just so she can log off and into her account to play music and occasionally view a web page??? That's pretty pointless, I may as well make every single friend that may come into contact with my computer their own accounts too. It's not like we are using it as root or anything, so it shouldn't matter.
What if I like using Konqueror for ftp and Mozilla Firefox for browsing. While I'm browsing a site doesn't load up, so I switch to Opera cause it is faster and quite often the site then works. There, just used 3 web browsers with just one person, so yes, software like that would be handy for Linux. Geez, for Linux being about choice there have been quite a few users that are quite conformist I have noticed (everyone should do it there way and if they have no need for a program, then no one does). I think a large part of the community may need to take a different approach (not to the software but to other people asking questions) or else Linux will never have a chance of going mainstream and then we may never get the broad hardware support we desire.
Now, you may not need this program, but some people may need one, so therefore there is a need for it, whether you think so or not. I'm starting to see why a lot of people who don't know much about Linux refer to its users as commies and socialists...when they happen to browse across forums like this....anyways, just something to think about
