ACPI errors - problem?
I originally put this in the hardware section but realized that it might be a software question, perhaps having to do wit hthe kernel?
Is this bad? CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ stepping 00 ACPI-0311: *** Error: ns_search_and_enter: Bad character in ACPI Name: 43005350 ACPI-0292: *** Error: Looking up [0x43005350] (NON-ASCII) in namespace, AE_BAD_CHARACTER ACPI-0115: *** Error: acpi_load_tables: Could not load namespace: AE_BAD_CHARACTER ACPI-0123: *** Error: acpi_load_tables: Could not load tables: AE_BAD_CHARACTER ACPI: Unable to load the System Description Tables boots and runs normally but I noticed this in the dmesg log. Is it going to hurt performance? what does it mean? |
in my opinion this sounds as you do not have the right DSDT table. do you have a laptop and when yes which one? you could get the right DSDT table for your laptop on a specific link, which I actually forgot, you should google for that

This is a dedicated server hosting box.
It is some sort of rack, most likely. Wish I knew what DSDT meant. Is it going to hurt me if it doesn't get fixed? |
I had that sort of error all the time before.
I think acpi is what monitors the power supply of a laptop and turn the laptop to standby or whatever when the batteries are too low... As I didn't have a laptop I reinstalled with a "noacpi" option. That did the trick. |
