Question acidrip/mencoder problem

Hello,
I usually use acidrip to rip my movies to xvid (my standalone can only play xvid, divx) and it usually works perfectly. However when I try to rip tv-shows from dvd's I get tons of interlacing.

I have tried for several days with various mencoder options, but I have not yet had a good result. I got rid of the interlacing by using yadif, but one rip had green colors and the other had jerky motion

It should be noted that I'm trying to rip a ntsc disc while my old crt television is PAL (I live in Europe), but I think I have had the same problems with pal-discs.

But as I said, this only happens with tv-shows - not movies. Any ideas what I could try?

thanks a lot!
Morten

Unfortunately, in many cases, yes you will lose some quality ... but I would still try it to see how bad it is.
