First, do you have an X server on your Windows host? That will be the first requirement. Kenton Lee has a decent list of
X servers for Windows. If you have a properly configured X server, then you should be able to run X client applications on Solaris hosts. I'm not sure if/how you can run the Solaris desktop on a console that is not directly attached to the Solaris host.
I have no idea what "x -query IP_ADRESS" is supposed to do. My 4 or 5 Solaris hosts have no such command as 'x'.
