accessing linux partitions from windows
 

I have my windows partition mounted in linux... but does anyone know if it's possible to windows to access a linux file system?

Usually this is not possible. The only way to do this is with Norton's Partition Magic. If you partitioned your linux drive in either ext2 or ext3, then you should be able to open up PM and browse your linux partition.

If it is a ext2 or ext3 filesystem then you are able to read it using a driver. You can find these using google, somehow i can't post the links until i post 3 posts, so i will give them in a next post (sorry for spamming, but that is to be expected when you want to help someone and are not allowed)

This can read and write to ext2 file systems... I'm not sure about ext3...

What if you are not using ext2 or ext3?

You know, like if you are using the Reiser file system.

Confusing....

Title says access Linux partitions from Windows, text says the opposite.

The easiest way to share files between Windows and Linux is to put the data on a FAT32 partition.

Partition Magic does not read the contents of partitions--it is used to create or modify partitions.

I've been using PM to do this for a while. You can right click on a partition and hit browse.

Oops!!! Learn something new every day. Maybe I never saw that because I never expected the program to do that.
Glad to be on Linux now where I don't have to pay for all the tools that I never learn completely......;)
