http://samba.org but it will already be on your system. this is of course the linux half of it, which is basically an equivalent of crappy Network Neighborhood.
You do mean connecting across a network, not on your own machine, dual booting etc... |
Or do you mean accessing the files on a linux ext2fs partition whilst runing Windoze?
Explore2fs, the WIN32 explorer for Linux ex2fs partitions http://uranus.it.swin.edu.AU/~jn/linux/explore2fs.htm |
If you have other computers on your network go into konquoror and type in the address bar smb:/// and that is how you access other computers. From windows, go into network neighborhood and search for 'localhost', you should find your computer but won't be able to access files becaues you proably don't have sharing set up. What distro are you using? If you are using mandrake you can go into the control center and then go into mount point and in there is a thing you can set up for file sharing. This intergrates file sharing into nautilus and konquoror so all you have to do is right click and select share. If you want to right to the drive from windows. Right click on the folder you are sharing and go into permissions and give 'other' write permission or go to the folder you want to give permission to in command line and type
"chmod 777 directory" (wow, I typed a lot ;)) |
if you don't need to access your linux files very often, you could do what I do, and use a program named "explore2fs". It's freeware, and you can copy files on your ext2/3 partitions overto a windows partition.
