accessing FC5 from XP
 

Hi all

I run a dual boot system

FC5 and XP

I've out how to access XP directory using FC5 ok, but now
I wish to try access FC5 from XP as a GUI window, is that possiable and what program can i use to access FC5 from XP

I have to reboot every time i want to access FC5 to check my mail

Don't think that that will work. To check your mail, you need to have FC5 running (and that can only be done by rebooting).

The alternative is to use virtual PCs. See http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx for a possible tool.
You have to install FC5 in that environment.

I have no experirence with it and there might be other tools


PS I assume that 'check my mail' means: connect to a mail serevr and retrieve them.

Yer kind of, I've been trying to install a email server which I have put and running, but I cant conntect to it using Outlook express or Mozilla mail clients.

Only way I can send mail is via the command line using mutt, I can send to my self and the out side ok.

I'm at alost now :scratch:

I was hoping to be able to get access to my FC5 via XP using the mozilla cleint to check the email account on my server.

You ask for the Holy Grail of computing. Alas, like the real Holy Grail, this one is elusive as well. :D

Maybe with further advances in virtualization technology this will work, but I doubt it. Both operating systems need privileged hardware access, and that is not multitask friendly.
