Access My Google Account without a smart cellphone

2018-12-09
How can I access my Google Account without a smart cellphone? I own only a land-line phone and Tracfone, and a Lenovo Android tablet.
It seems to be a new Google requirement to me. Thanks very much.

I don't know what a tracphone is but some phones can be hot spots. A hot spot is a way to use your phone as a wireless access point to which you should be able to connect the lenovo.

As far as a new requirement by google, I don't think anything has changed for me.

Now if it worked yesterday, then there maybe another issue.

Do you have internet at home? What about wireless (wifi)? Did someone else set this up for you? Were you using a wireless access point that disappeared?

Can you go anywhere that offers free wifi and test your lenovo and see if it connects and you can get to google? I don't know where you are so here in the USA try starbucks or mcdonalds.

Hmmm. Are you referring to using a smart phone for two-factor authorization?

You can tell google to use email or voice or you can turn it off altogether (I think.)

Hi, Everyone,

Thank you all very much. I finally figured out my Google Account's two-step security login by using just my Lenovo Android tablet.

could you explain how exactly you did this.
others will benefit.

@ Ondoho:-

AFAIK, having had a Google a/c for years beyond count, the two-factor authentication thing merely sends a random code to your phone (smart or otherwise!), which you then need to enter in a box provided on-screen. This supplements your standard login password.

OK, that's the simplistic explanation, I know. It's not something I've ever used, personally, so I can't give step-by-step instructions for it.....

Mike. :)

Mike_Walsh, I'm not asking for myself, and i'm not asking how 2FA generally works on google accounts.
i couldn't be less interested if you paid me for it.

I'm asking OP to explain how they solved their original problem.
because forums are a 2-way-street.
every question answered isn't only for OP's benefit but for all who come searching for a solution to a similar problem.

Hi, Everyone,

I regret very much that I've been too busy to respond promptly to your thoughtful and generous replies to my original post. My advanced age partly explains my tardiness. Please bear with me for a while and I'll amplify my last post as soon as I can. Thank you all so much.

You may distribute wi fi using your Android tablet, hit your tablet`s settings, then something like modem settings and there will be APN which will allow use to connect your computer to the Internet to find Google Play and log in on the site

ondoho,

I apologize for my late response and hope the following description suffices.

1. Computer side:

When I open Google from my Linux Mint computer, I see the attached login screen and then I enter my Gmail address and password.

2. Tablet side:

I next open my Lenovo Android tablet as requested by Google and see the 'Confirm Screen Lock' screen and press the 'Confirm Lock Screen' button.

When the 'Confirm Your PIN' screen appears next, I enter my Lenovo PIN.

I complete the login process by pressing the Yes button when the screen shows "Trying to sign in from Another Computer?'.

3.Computer side:

Now I can open the Google Applications icon on the upper right corner of the screen to access Google Drive, Google Play, Gmail, and other programs.

Thanks very much for your patience.

Julianvb
