access configuration sources... (maybe gconfd..??)

I'm performing a whole linux setup and somewhere during this setup my pc crashed. Maybe this is the reason for this strange behaviour, maybe not.
After I type drak3d and click on compiz I get the following error message:

Code:
Failed to access configuration source(s): Failed to contact configuration server;
some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit,
or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash.
See http://www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/ for information.
(Details - 1: IOR file '/tmp/gconfd-root/lock/ior' not opened successfully,
no gconfd located: No such file or directory
2: IOR file '/tmp/gconfd-root/lock/ior' not opened successfully,
no gconfd located: No such file or directory)
Indeed these files aren't there, in addition to that the command (whatever this command is good for, I saw it at the homepage listed above )

service nfslock start

gives me:

Cannot find nfslock service
Usage: service -[Rfshv] SERVICE ARGUMENTS
-f|--full-restart: Do a fullrestart of the service.
-R|--full-restart-all: Do a fullrestart of all services currently running.
-s|--status-all: Print a status of all services.
-d|--debug: Launch with debug.
-h|--help: This help.

Please help me, I haven't got any clou about what's going on. Are packages missing or is some configuration srewed and where or ???

Thanks a lot!

I decided to reinstall the whole system anyway, so this questions doesn't matter much.
So if you think that this problem is acutally a hard one (I don't know) there is not much benefit in explaining me the solution, anymore. But of course I would be interested in some general idea how to aid myself when facing that problem, it might occur again ;-) Thx
