About apache setup and router
Have setup apache, can access the website on the lan using hostname or internal IP 10.x.x.x ; I now want to give external access to it, have a fixed IP 81.x.x.x assigned to the router from my ISP. How do I go in order to make it accessible?
Thanks. |
Is this router also a firewall? Then you'll need to forward port 80 on the forewall to whatever port you Apache server is listening on (usually port 80, or 8080).

That is already enabled, tested both port 80 and 8080 (in case my ISP is blocking port 80) but still no joy, on the internet get message, page cannot be displayed...
Wondering if is something to do with the external or internal router IP that needs to be configured on Apache. |
Enabled on you external firewall? I still don't really have a clue how you have set things up over there. My best guess is something like this.
Code:
(Inernet)----(Router)-----(Apache Server) |
Yes that is correct, but the router have also an internal IP 10.0.0.2
and works as DHCP (eventhought all PCs have been configured with fixed IP) the linux box can connect to the internet ok (Inernet)---------(Router)---------(Apache Server) (0.0.0.0) (81.X.X.X / 10.0.0.2) (Private IP) Plus have already opened port 80 and 8080 for the Linux box. |
Opening the ports is great if you want to talk to the router itself from the outside (it depends on how you define great) but they still need to know which machine to go to on the inside - either a DMZ or NAT host.
