Abiword versus LibreOffice

I just installed abiword in Slackware 14.1, mainly to gain some more experience using sbopkg.
I noticed when I tried it out that the fonts appear sharper and clearer
in abiword than Libreoffice and print out clearer as a result.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi...

I just tried out both programs myself using the same font and size but for me, the font (Liberation Serif) in LibreOffice appeared sharper, more bold to me. Not sure why.

Congratulations, by the way, you're now a "Senior Member." Only 4,000 posts left to go before the next (and last) promotion. :D

Regards...

Thank you.:)
My real goal is to become proficient with Slackware.

Liber for me . Does everything and works fine. No reason to go back to abi.

Libre is a full feature office suite that works very well. Since abiword is only a document writer,
comparisons can only be made in that regard. Since clean, clear text is important to me, I am
pleasantly surprised with abiword. I really wasn't expecting much.

How does abiword compare with libreoffice these days on .docx formatting? the last time I used abiword, it didn't format .docx files near as well as libreoffice, but its been a long time since trying it out.

i was curious.
unfortunately, not well at all.
here's a comparison i just made. to be fair, i've chosen a rotten .docx document for this. my school is the only providing me with docx format, and they probably converted this one from a 20 year old word document... who knows...
anyhow, abiword doesn't even render the complete text!

Thank you for this.
