a thanks, and about making my own distro

first off, i just wanted to say thanks. this board has been an immense help in getting linux running on my computer.

my other question is this: would it be possible to make a distro of linux that is entirely on a cd, where all you have to do is boot from the cd and you've got linux, without changing anything on the hdd? my idea is that i carry a cd with me, and on any computer, i can use linux.

i'm not asking how to do it, but if can be done. i'm kind of a goal oriented person, and i figure that'd be a useful and decent goal. i just want to make sure it's possible before i set out at it.

again, thanks.

Try Knoppix or Mandrake Move. Both run entirely off of the CD.

thanks. a place to start i guess. i was actually hoping to make it myself, with the idea that once i'd done that, i'd have a respectable knowledge of how linux works. maybe i'm aiming a little high...

I'm not sure if anyone's posted a way to make a live cd in there yet, but I'm sure it's possible.
