Question A question about 'bb' and the use of bs=nnnn parameter

In this command: dd if=/dev/sdx1 of=/mnt/xxx/yyy.img bs=4096 conv=notrunc,noerror
The bs=4096 is as 'man' says the amount of bytes it reads before it writes it.
so I can change that to a higher value thus hopefully making the image creation go faster,
is that a correct assumption?

Yes, you can play with that option, I usually get the best performance with sizes between 8M an 32M.

oh, btw, what about 'ibs/obs'?
That's only 512 bytes per read/write and that sure is low.
If I increase 'ibs/obs' then I should be able to increase these to to a value under 'bs'

right?

UPDATE: The speed of this sure ain't good

8G of USB stick took 437 seconds and a 120G SATA HDD takes about 10 minutes in Ghost 8
