A good stand-alone console email client

I was looking around for a good stand alone console based email client (I don't want to install fetchmail or anything). I found something called Elmo, which sounded perfect, but it is no longer maintained, and I couldn't get it to build.

The reason I want a console based system is because I would like to access my email box remotely.

Thanks in advance.

I believe mutt is quite good, and pine works well, but they need the getmail/fetchmail backends.

Yeah, it looks like those are my best options. I really don't think it's too much to ask for a mail program to be able to send and recieve mail.

I've used mutt before, and it does what it does well, but take a look at Elmo, and you'll see why I would like to get more out of a console based email client.

Does CONE work? Might also take a look here.

umm, well, for some reason I can't send mail. Could be my configuration, or it could be server problems.
