a few questions about repos for yum on fc3

hi i have a few questions about repos for yum.

1. Is there any repos people recommend - either to use or to stay away from?
2. to install a new repo do you basically just import the public key? for freshrpms i had to install an rpm as well? i don't know if i should be looking for a pub key or rpm or a combo of the two.

3.man yum says to disable do --diablerepo=repoid. is the repoid the name that is in /etc/yum.repos.d? So to disable freshrpms would it be yum --disablerepo=freshrpms.repo?

4. i read this at the DAG website

Beware that this repository is not compatible with fedora.us or livna.org. I would like to be compatible with these repositories, but they have a policy to not work together with other repositories. Compatibility works in 2 directions and if one party is refusing to care, it's impossible to make it work. I still hope fedora.us and livna.org change their minds and drop this policy. In the meantime I advise you not to use these 2 repositories

has their policy changed at all? do people recommend staying away from them as well?

these are my repos -
fedora-devel.repo fedora-updates.repo freshrpms.repo
fedora.repo fedora-updates-testing.repo

so i don't think i should have a conflict if i installed the DAG repo unless fedora.repo is a new name for fedora.us. is it?

thanks for any replies in advanced. i appreciate it.

There's only the general comment that there are two schools of packaging - roughly the American and the European line. You shouldn't mix the two or do so at your own risk.

You can find some very useful info on yum in general and pgp keys in particular at The Unofficial Fedora FAQ and Stanton Finley FC4 Installation Notes
