3D rendering software

Is there a program like 3ds MAX or Lightwave for Linux? Thanks so much.

could Blender be what you are looking for? I do not do 3D rendering, but have heard of this.

"Blender is open source software for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, post-production, interactive creation and playback and it is available for all major operating systems under the GNU Public License." (quoted from the blender website)

you can download it here: www.blender3d.org

Also you can try K3D
download it here: http://k3d.sourceforge.net/
