3D Modeling?

Whats the best 3d Modeling program for linux? I would like it to be able to export/import models to/from 3ds max so I can still mod my favorate halo games. I heard a little bit about blender, is this any good? Im running Fedoa Core 3.

I'm not sure what I have, but take a quick look at

http://www.websamba.com/Linux_Docs_Links
-> Softwares
-> CAD/Rendering/Graphics

Can't recommend any as I never used any.
I do recall patran (commercial) was also for
linux (and that program is an overkill for some).

Scroll down to 3D Graphics.

I don't know if Blender is compatable with 3ds max, but my Brother
uses it and loves it.

could you ask him if it can export to something 3ds max can read? Maybe .3ds .obj or something like that?

Somehow I don't think he's going to drop $3K to mod halo. Heh.

You should be able to make meshes in Blender 3D and get them into 3Ds Max. What you will have to do is create a mesh then export it from Blender as a .dxf (autocad) file then use a program to convert it to 3Ds format or if 3Ds can import .dxf file just import it and tweak it to your liking.

While I can't guarantee it, HenchmenResourc may be right.
I think both Blender and 3Ds Max will do .dxf.
