3D acceleration issues

Just re-did my slackware setup, had 3D acceleration working for a little while cause glxgears was above 1000k fps but now its down to 4fps. To ensure that it was working originally i was playing Doom3 at 30+fps, now though it wont even start.

Download and install the new nvidia driver that just came out a few days ago. This should hopefully solve the problem.

Nvidia says to disable load "dri" in xorg.conf. Try to do this and check if anything changes.

My nvidia driver that i was using for a little while was the old one, but i did manage to get the new one up and running but the problem still continued. Yes, dri has been edited out of my xorg file along with all that other unecesary business. Considering now that maybe i have the kernel improperly configured
