3 small problems in 1 small post

hi. straight to the point.

mdk9

1.
at user1 (not root) i delete the "removable" icon,
but it keeps reappearing when logging in again.
i want it out. for good. how?

2.
at openoffice101 writer instead of "B" icon
(for bold) there is an "F" icon and instead
of "I" icon (for italics) there is a K.

why? is openoffice trying to insult me?!

this happened after i did some changes
at tools > adjustments-settings

3.
at some other pc that i installed mdk9, at
installation process, asked me for the printing
quality (draft, black or colour cartridge etc).
at my pc didn`t. how do i change the printer`s
settings in order to prin draft (colour and black
cartiridge). i tried to solve the problem through
mdk control center > printer but did`t make it. any help?
THIS PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. USING ONLY GRAPHICAL INTERFACE SETTINGS.
MANDRAKE CONTROL CENTER > HARDWARE > PRINTERS >
DOUBLE CLICK ON INSTALLED PRINTER NAME (MINE WAS HP845C) >
PRINTER MANUFACTURER-MODEL-DRIVERS > OK >
RESOLUTION-QUALITY-INKTYPE-MEDIA TYPE...

only 2 questions LEFT
:p

Looks like that's the German equivalents,
Bold = Fett, italic = kursiv

Cheers,

hi tinkster, thanks for your reply

oh, german maybe. can you point me exactly to the possible correction point?

Tinkster 02-24-2003 01:43 PM

Sorry, never attempted to change it,
so wouldn't have a clue where to look.

Besides that, my OO doesn't have

What "removable" icon are you referring to? Is it on the desktop?

@Crashed_Again

i should better say "shortcut". when click on this shortcut, sends me to the "removable media" folder. in there they are 2 shortcuts: 1 for floppy and 1 for cdrom. the icon for this desktop shortcut is a "cdrom"

one solution, (not very direct) is to setup apsfilter, magicfilter, or any other printing filters...they usually do a good job. then you jsut change the print command.

eg. i use apsfilter (my printer is not ps, but my work is :) ), so i have it setup as aps1. then:
lpr -P aps1

you can setup different "printers" to be different styles, ie. draft, quality, etc, that point to the same printer:
lpr -P draft
lpr -P quality

I know apsfilter (and most likely magicfilter) is not hard to setup. dont know about any other printing filters.

When you put in a cd it appears automatically on the desktop. So take out the cd to get rid of it.

vzzt! 02-27-2003 08:31 AM

there is no a cd in the drive.
must have something to do with umounting?
i do not know how to unmount. i just press the
button and taking back the cd or floppy..

@cuckoopint
problem3 with printer solved
look up if you want to see what i did using
only the kde gui :)

cuckoopint 02-27-2003 07:40 PM

whatever works for you... I don't have kde, and sometimes like to print nice documents from console (w/ LaTeX), so a ps filter kinda helps.
