2D Animation in Linux

I tried out SynfigStudio and inspite of its unintuitive interface, a quick glance at its beginners tutorial made things easier.

I have also tried out blender, but it is overkill for the simple 2D animations i wish to create (its meant for 3D and it does that job well tho').

The vector drawing part of synfig is OK, but i missed the power and simplicity of Inkscape, which i m used to.

Is there a possibility that Inkscape could borrow the "automated tweening" part of synfig, and become a powerful animation package?
