2.6 kernel and ALSA how?

I have a 2.6.5 kernel installed and i want ALSA with OSS emulation set up to run.
I have tried the source way but i heard about the kernel and ALSA.
How do i set ALSA up with my 2.6 kernel?
Any guides or something?

Well, try to enable the kernel options for it. Then compiling the kernel and booting it. And then as root run "alsaconf". Worked for me, although getting it to work on my laptop was more troublesome. Let us know if you run into any problems.
