2.4 kernel w/ devfs "/dev/tty1-8: No such file or directory"

Hey guys,

I'm trying to boot a 2.4 kernel with devfs built into the kernel, I never get a login prompt, my services startup, but when it finally comes time for my login prompt I get nothing but these errors:

Code:
INIT: Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
....
INIT: Id "6" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
I notice this during the bootup proceedure:
Code:
/dev/tty1: No such file or directory
/dev/tty2: No such file or directory
...
...
/dev/tty8: No such file or directory
I have devfs enabled in the kernel, so shouldn't it create these? Any more ideas?

Thanks!
George
