10 gig hd
i am using mandrake 8.0 linux. i would like to use the entire 10 gig hd or a better part of it. 2 gig is not enough to load the stuff i want. i am still a newbie at this. support would not answer my question. thanks.

When you say 2G is not enough I am thinking you have a partition of 2G.
If you bios supports 10G it should show 10G available after you delete the 2G partition you can partition it any way you like. |
i'm not really sure i see what the problem is... if you're trying to create a dual-boot system, then you can have 5 and 5, which is likely more than enough space on each side. but, if you just want to have linux on the box, then you simply create a boot, swap, and root partition. mandrake should do this automatically... it's probably the easiest way to install.

Load Linux up.... and install it on the whole hard drive using their disk druid or whatever to create the partitions you want, with the easiest this way:
Swap = 100 meg should be enough /boot = 16 meg is plenty for boot / = rest of the hard drive which would be 9 gig and a little change. |
