\\sambaserver does not work \\ does

For some reason, my name serving capability (WINS?) all of the sudden stopped working. I cannot access my linux samba server from windows machines. Access by IP address works.

I have the smbd and nmbd daemons running. File access works OK, when the IP address is used. There is nothing in the samba logs that jumps out at me.

Did you have "wins support = yes" in smb.conf?

Also check /etc/nsswitch.conf?

Access by IP address works.
Check your DNS resolve.
