[SOLVED ]Icedove hangs/won't start (grays out)

I simply configured devilspie poorly ...

The password prompt wouldn't come to foreground. Forget this.

I recently updated from Debian 7 to 8 but the problem occured some time afterwards. Icedove is not really starting for me. The window opens but it goes immediately gray. This looks as if Icedove wants to open

This is reproducable by generating a new icedove account, setting up my mail account but not giving the password. After confirming the server configuration it immediately goes gray and I have to kill it from terminal. I also tried out different mail servers.

I finally downgraded to Icedove 31.3 but the same thing happens. I don't know what's up with my system. I have no problem with other programs.

I can see that the last message was received on 2015-05-27. On 2015-06-01 I updated from Icedove 31.6.0 to version 31.7.0. I'm not sure when it first occured to me that there is a problem. But I usually check my mails daily. Since 2015-05-27 is installed/upgraded applications as follows:[...]

Sorry for the noise.

It might help if you posted what exactly what you did wrong and what you did to fix it. If it happened to you it might happen to someone else that finds this thread later.

Hi MensaWater, thanks for the reply.
I still think it had something to do with the upgrade. Anyhow I simply deleted the Icedove rule in devilspie and that was that.
