[SOLVED]gedit Embedded Terminal Has No Prompt

I'm trying to wrap my head around Python. I want to use gedit. I'm on a Google CR-48 with lubuntu 13.10 installed.

Take a look at my screenshot. You can see the terminal in the bottom panel of gedit, but there is no prompt from which to issue commands.

I've tried turning it off and on again after speaking to Roy in IT, over at Reynholm industries. No joy.

Well, in absence of an answer, I installed Geany. Works out of the box.
