[SOLUTION] Vuze install (and maybe upgrade)
Hello :)

After a fresh installation of Vuze on Slackware 13 32-bit I got the following messages on running it from the command line. As best I understand from Vuze's advice this problem is not specific to Slackware and maybe applies to upgrades to as well as fresh installations.

I have left some messages that may not be significant in case they are significant and to help people netsearching for this information.

Browser check failed with: InvocationTargetException, XPCOM error -2147467259
Can't create browser.  Will try to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH and hope Vuze has better luck.

Exit from Azureus complete
No shutdown tasks to do

The Vuze directory is the one that Vuze_4.2.0.8_linux.tar.bz2 is unpacked in. It needs to be writeable by the user running the command (this is required to allow updates).

The problem was solved by following the advice at, that is changing to the Vuze directory and running

java -cp swt.jar:swt-pi.jar:Azureus2.jar -Djava.library.path=./ org.gudy.azureus2.ui.swt.Main
After doing this vuze was started in the normal way and was a bit wobbly but I went ahead with configuring it anyway and it settled down OK.

I would recommend using the torrent program Transmission. I've found that Transmission uses less resources than Vuze, is much easier to use and seems to have less bugs. I used use Vuze when it was called Azureus, but it seems that the more Vuze is developed the worse it gets.
