[PROFTPD] Ldap and proftpd authentication

I have a few questions regarding LDAP and PROFTPD.

I'm configuring my PROFTPD and i need the user and password authentication from my windows server that is running LDAP.

My questions are:

*is it possible to withdraw the user+password from the windows server that is running LDAP?

*do i need to install some extra software on my linux machine to communicate with the ldap windows server ( i have PROFTPD configured with mod_ldap).
