[Linux; Firefox 1.02] Firefox gone blank?!

Hi! I have a huge problem, my firefox has blanked out on me... Literally. One day, I just fired up firefox, like I always do, and the screen went white. I hadn't done anything before closing firefox the last time I used it. I just used it for regular surfing. No new plugins, no changing the settings, nothing! The browser is still intact, my mousegestures still work, i can navigate and everything, it's like everythings there, but hidden beneath a white piece of paper or something. I can leftclick the page that firefox starts at and the source is just bogus, like this;
Code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"><html><head><title></title></head><body></body></html>
This is a screen of what Firefox looks like when I start it: Goto falconvent dot com slash firefox dot png
(Excuse me fot not linking to a picture, but I'm not allowed to post URLs since I haven't posted 5 posts, yet, )
How can I fix this? is this a bug, perhaps?
I greatly appreciate any support from this friendly and lovely community
Thanks in advance!
Live well,
\\Jeff

Firefox has a mind of its own. Try opening it in Safe Mode.

"On Linux, you can go to your Terminal and run:

/path/to/firefox/firefox -safe-mode"

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

If it still does not work you may need to create a new profile.
"On Linux or Mac, start Firefox with the the -profilemanager switch, e.g. ./firefox -profilemanager (this assumes that you're in the firefox directory)."

Okey, making a new profile did the trick. I have to move my plugins and bookmarks and so however, is there any wuick easy way to fix 'em over from one profile to another? I can't imagine you can just copy them over?
Thanks!

Assuming it works with a clean profile, you can copy the following files from the old profile into the new one. (Note, that some of these files may not exist.)

* bookmarks.html
* cookies.txt
* hostperm.1
* user.js
* userContent.css
* userChrome.css
* signons.txt
* key3.db
* Any other files that you need

The only one I would not try to copy over is the actual pref.js. You will have to reinstall any extensions you had installed.

Best thing to do is backup your profile. The easiest way to do that is with:
"Bookmark Backup is a simple extension that helps to keep your bookmarks (and optionally other Firefox settings) safe. Each time Firefox is closed, a copy of your bookmarks file will be made to a backup location. If Firefox's bookmarks become corrupted or lost, find the most recent uncorrupted backup and copy it into your profile folder."

Thanks! You are a lifesaver! I'll be more careful in the future and it seems like all the things that you told me to do worked out fine. Thanks, once again!
