[I'm a Wine Newbie] Wine troubles.
I'm trying to get http://forum.ragezone.com/f331/dev-p...ta-dev-300154/ that running on Wine on Ubuntu Server Edition.
I do the fallowing: Quote:
No one has ever tried this on Wine prior to me, not even the developers. It does work on my WindowsXP machine fine. Question2: I was also wondering how this would work; The program I want to run has a dialog and stuff, would be possible to run the program with no Graphic based desktop on the linux machine or would I need to get one? Any help is highly appreciated. :) |
As a wild stab in the dark I'd start by making sure you have both "winex11.drv" and "libSM.so.6" installed/present on your system, purely based on the fact that the first error you get is
Code:
err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"winex11.drv": libSM.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory As for question 2, I'm not really sure what you mean by that. Could you clarify what you mean by "...dialog and stuff..." and "...no Graphic based desktop..." please? Are you asking if you can run an application that has no command line interface (as in it only windows) through wine on a Linux box without X started? |
There's a lot of that coming if you start to create symlinks..it's a pain when a program looks for a library file and there basically is that lib file, but with a different name (or there's almost that lib file, maybe slightly other version, and so on). Wine is not perfect, and I'd say first try to solve those missing file problems, and if it still won't run, contact Wine's mailing lists or something.
Not all programs run under Wine. And some of them need to be installed by starting "winefile" with Wine, and using that to start the installer, rather than start the installer directly with Wine. Curious, eh? |
