[Evolution]Multiple distros

I'm using multiple distros. The one day I feel like using Ubuntu, the other day Slackware etc.

I like to access the evolution mailbox from all distros. So I need to park the mailbox somewhere where it's accessible to all distros.

First problem will be to sort out permission issues, second problem is how to tell evolution where my mailbox is.
Went through the manual last night, but did not see a solution for the second problem.

Suggestions how to tell evolution to use a specific location for a mailbox?

Make it so your distro's share the same /home directory, kind of pointless to have more than one in my opinion.

That will be tricky, I guess, as the distro's use different configurations (dropline gnome versus gnome versus kde versus xfce etc). And the UIDs of the users might be different, possibly causing quite a bit of pain.
