[Debian] Document format compatibility w/ ereader

I picked up a Barnes and Nobles nook (ereader) for my fiancée and have some ebooks in multiple formats HTML, RTF, PDF, TXT, DOCX, DOC and a couple random other formats. But the problem here is that it only reads PDF files.

I need a way to convert these files to PDF but also to edit the PDF text. For instance there are a couple of LIT files I converted to PDF in Windows that have a header and footer that I cant seem to find out how to remove.

Are there any suggestions? I have tried using PDFedit to edit the PDFs but it doesnt work.

Not an expert in this but convertion programs tend to have names like 'html2pdf'. As far as editing the *.pdf files http://www.lyx.org/ might do it - it is time well spent to do its tutorial

OPenOffice can create a pdf. For converting .lit files look for clit - Decompiler for Microsoft's .lit ebook format.
