'Hotkeys' within console?

Hi guys,
I am atm building a small diskless/fanless mp3 player based on ISA Slot-CPU w/ a 166MHz Pentium (@100MHz) and old, unused industrial components.
I got a lot of tips and ideas here just reading your topics (thanks for that!), so everything is working fine... except, I need some sort of 'hotkey' to shutdown the computer because i want only the very essential keys to be built into my extra-compact selfmade case.

Is it possible to define Hotkeys that can be used within the console (NO X!!)?

I didn't find anything related to that so I'm asking.

Nils

I don't know 'bout hotkeys inside virtual terminal, but I do know there's a project that's been made for multimedia keyboards where you can define keys, so that may be a sollution for you.
Project is called lineak: http://lineak.sourceforge.net/
