'*' is not a member of '*'
trying to install libassa.
i have a string of errors after the 'make' command, most of which look something like:
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-mandrake-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../include/c++/3.4.3/bits/deque.tcc:705: error: `copy' is not a member of `std'
what's going on?

Hi,
'*' is not a member of '*'
is ordinarily about a user not being a member of a group, it is a permission problem.
What distro are you using ? There are some tools to prevent these errors from happening
and installing programs much more easily than the one you chose.

i don't think it is a user group problem. (i really don't know what i'm doing though, admittedly.)
the screen looks like this (part of it):
que.tcc:580: error: `copy' is not a member of `std'
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-mandrake-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../include/c++/3.4.3/bits/deque.tcc:605: error: `copy_backward' is not a member of `std'
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-mandrake-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../include/c++/3.4.3/bits/deque.tcc:606: error: `copy' is not a member of `std'
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-mandrake-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../include/c++/3.4.3/bits/deque.tcc:616: error: `copy' is not a member of `std'
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-mandrake-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../include/c++/3.4.3/bits/deque.tcc: In member function `void std::deque<_Tp, _Alloc>::_M_reallocate_map(size_t, bool)':
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-mandrake-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../include/c++/3.4.3/bits/deque.tcc:688: error: `copy' is not a member of `std'
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-mandrake-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../include/c++/3.4.3/bits/deque.tcc:692: error: `copy_backward' is not a member of `std'
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-mandrake-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../include/c++/3.4.3/bits/deque.tcc:699: error: `max' is not a member of `std'
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-mandrake-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../include/c++/3.4.3/bits/deque.tcc:705: error: `copy' is not a member of `std'
these are not user names, and i don't think std is a user group.
i'm using mandriva 2005.
i'm working to install 'granule.' libassa is a dependency.
i installed it on my home computer. i didn't log my actions though, unfortunately (stupidly). i'm not sure why it won't install on my work computer. it seemed pretty simple at home.
