YUM can't resolve URL's

# yum update

returns:
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?releas...h=i386&repo=os error was
[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution')>
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: base

I was following this guide to setup a resolvable hostname but for some reason it has broken my ability to resolve domain names. DNS doesn't seem to be working at all. I can ping via IP but not domain names.

How do I setup the local DNS server. I tried editing /etc/resolv.conf to the following:

search serverdomain.com
nameserver 206.248.154.22

But that doesn't work either. I rebooted after editing that file and ran

# yum clean all
# yum update

And I'm still getting the error.

How do I fix this?

Oh... I did originally have it setup as DCHP from the initial install. All I did to change it to static was change the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file to:

# Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] 79c970 [PCnet32 LANCE]
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=static
HWADDR=09:11:238:B5:B7
BROADCAST=192.168.1.255
IPADDR=192.168.1.98
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
NETWORK=192.168.1.0
ONBOOT=yes
#DHCP_HOSTNAME=s1.serverdomain.com

I seemed to have fixed it. I ran # system-config-network and realized my device did not have a default gateway assigned. This seems to have fixed it.
