xen vps load average question (1 of 2)

Hello

Server runs for months with no problems.
Today performance was poor. LA was up at 45%

If it is a xen on a shared physical box and the hosting co. tell you you have one dedicated cpu at all times, is it still theoretically possible the physical server is being overloaded and you are not getting that full CPU?

If there is a reduction in clock cycles due to the physical hardware being overloaded, the would the LA increase on the virtual host?

Loadavg is not simply a measure of CPU demand under Linux. Also includes tasks in uninterruptable sleep - usually waits for disks I/O.
Probably caused by that bad filesystem that forced the long fsck you mention in part 2.
