X11 4ward a java app (fedora directory services)

Morning all, playing with Fedora's Directory Services product and pretty happy with it. The only issue (as the subject shows) is to administer it, you need to be on that machine as it uses a java http application which I would like to remotely use and I am having an issue with basic X11 forwarding! Haven't done this since, hmmmm, RH9 maybe, but from what I read, most is the same;

:: server ::
sshd_config has;
AllowTcpForwarding yes (didnt think I need this one, but tested anyway)
X11Forwarding yes
X11DisplayOffset 10

:: client ::
ssh -x ip

--------------------
RESULT

I think with the above way, I get;
xclock
Error: Can't open display:

I played with the /home/user/.bash_profile, added
DISPLAY=:0.0
export DISPLAY

which then will start xlock (on the server machine (next to me ) )

I then changed DISPLAY to 10:0 with the same result.

I am sure it's something stupid, so sorry.... but thanks for the time!

You're almost there, the option you want is -X though, not -x. If you're accessing via a broadband connection you might also want to enable compression using -C. If it's just for access over a LAN then there is no point using compression.
