Writing app data to root volume group - best practice


I've long posited that it is bad practice to write app data to vg00/root volume group. Now a member of the app team wants me to verify that in writing...

I'm having a tuff time finding anything written by RedHat, or any Linux vendor.

Can someone help me out?

In short /root is the home directory of the root user. It commonly is part of "/". On well-configured servers services write to /var, which is a separate volume for various reasons, see for example:
