Well, it depend what you plan to do with your network storage drive and the context in which it is to be used.

Could you give use some information about that?

Hi,
i had planned to create a user account for our employees to save there data in network drive .I want to know which one is very faster in filetransfer

Didier Spaier 05-28-2012 10:11 AM

Well, after a few googling I've read somewhere that intrinsically nfs is faster, but anyway that is not the only thing to consider, IMHO, especially if you use a public network to make the transfers.

Then the speed will depend on the bandwidth, not on the protocol used. And security could be a more important concern than speed.

What OS is the server using?
What OS are the client using?
Is security an issue?

Normally for disk sharing between *nix systems, you'd use nfs.
Normally if server=Linux & clients=MSWin, use Samba

For file copying, use FTP (or FTPS ie FTP+TLS for security) or scp/sftp (both secure...)
