Which ftp server

I'm not going to pick out some random ftp server.

I prefer server apps which are not so main stream such as apache. I wouldn't go for apache I'd go for lighttpd or hiawatha.

As for the mail server, screw postfix and sendmail. I'll probably go with qmail.

But for the ftp server, i'm not sure what to pick.

I'd like something that is very secure, easy to administer, easy to add quota limits, easy to change things, not a 20 page long configuration,

Easy to add virtual users that don't use up a lot of sys accounts.

It needs to be fast too.

It's really just a small server so I won't need an ftp server geared towards extremely high traffic servers.

Thanks a lot for looking into this.

Cheerio

For me, Proftpd worked straight 'out of the box.'

No hassle, no fuss, just worked.

Good luck.

VSFTP would be my choice. Super secure. The config file is about 135 lines long, and much of that is comments. No GUI garbage, just classic *nix style text and run.

Peace,

I tried Pure-FTP and VSFTP.

I prefer VSFTP. I'm running it now for more then 1.5 years without a single problem.
