which distro is the best for a webserver?


and are there any specifics I should keep in mind choosing one?

I don't know about a "best", but any distro can be configured to work as a webserver. The most common Linux distros used by web hosts are CentOS (Red Hat) and Debian so if you need help or support for these distros, its usually readily available.
