what solutions can i use for linux vpn hosting ?

hi,
I am trying to get together a complete vpn hosting on linux that includes the backend as well as a nice front-end for users (tho the front end can be wordpress/we doesn't really matter that much)

The backend is what matters. The vpn will be offered to customers from around the world and as such i want to implement a centralised authentication server (was thinking using LDAP) but the remote points - the ones that clients will connect to could be more than one, ie for better bandwith, speed, etc. I was also thinking on using pptpd and integrate it with pam and ldap. i've used poptop before personally but moving to production is a whole different thing.

So far i've managed to find freeswan strongswan and openvpn (though i may not know something about it or it's not really free). I am aiming for a free and open source linux solution as much as possible. And if there's another suite that takes care of managing vpn, providing web gui for client and management, monitor etc i would love to test it out.

If you are going to be setting this up, and reselling it onto users then I would suggest looking into Amazon web services. There is a prebuilt OpenVPN AMI which comes complete with web interface to manage it. Pricing might be competetive enough that you could sell it on, and the main advantage is the scalability, and regions where you could provide services. Disadvantages: Might have the NSA snooping you data ;)

Hope this is useful.
