What laptop to buy?
Hi, i would like to have a laptop for home use, i want listen to the music collection, surf the net and play high quality games. I was thinking of using a DEGEE laptop as a server.
My budget is quite generous £500 and i want it to be as future proof as possible. The plan is to network the whole home so everyone has access and be able to watch what they want at anyone time.
Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A laptop as a server? You have to be kidding.... Especially with wanting to play high quality games. You want a desktop my friend, at least. And can I ask what a DEGEE laptop is?

Get a small desktop for $200, stick it in a closet somewhere with a plugged in ethernet cable.
Think this is way off your skill area. Find some app to do this for you.

The use of a laptop as a server is something I wouldn't recommend, unless you are connected to 4G data and want to create a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot or something. You should probably build your own desktop and hook it up at home. For details on how to build your own desktop, look here, replacing Windows with Linux for the operating system.

You won't be able to play "high quality games" with a netbook, especially with this older one with only the i945G graphics chip.
