I have a application on linux , I can excute it in command line . but when I invoked it via CGI(perl) , it can not excute successfully , so I suspected that there is something different between SHELL and CGI environment , but I haven't figure out what the difference is .

What application is it, and does it provide any useful output? How is the output different for the two different ways that you are running it? Have you checked the permissions?

What errors are you getting? What's the code look like (if it's not huge). If it's too large, cut it down to the shortest example that has the same problem.

it is a C program , it can ran in command line with no error, even I su to user: apache , so it should not be permission issue .
the program has output , but I can not get any output when I invoked it via CGI .
