wget error


hi,

i want to use wget to download backup files from remote server.

i am using wget as follows:-

wget <url>/backup.tar.gz

i have put backup in /usr/local/apache/htdocs

is it ok????

while i fire this command it is giving me an error like:-

[root@wbcdb ~]# wget http://<url>/newfiles.tar.gz
--12:18:12-- http://<url>/newfiles.tar.gz
=> `newfiles.tar.gz'
Connecting to <url>:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 403 Webcat Access denied
12:18:12 ERROR 403: Webcat Access denied.


please help me to solve this error...

The remote server isn't allowing access. Is it your server? If so, allow access.

pls check the file owner of the backup files and the user who is runing the apache server, if they are different you cannot access the files. chmown user_name:group_name -R folder_name

ya, this is mt server and i have given access. as i have enterd its gateway ip in hosts.allow


bt can u tell how wget is been used with ftp: instead of http:

if this can be possible then my problem is solved

you can directly call the same command as far as i remember : wget ftp://ftp.example.org/test.txt if it does not work pls try to search via google.
