Webcam Server for Debian
Hi. I have a server running Debian, and Logitech QuickCam rarely being used after I bought it. Now I am thinking about:
1. Setting up webcam and make it works on Debian 2. Capture pictures frequently (1 shot per 5 seconds) or capture video (video streaming) 3. Access the captured image/ view the video streaming from Internet Yeah that's similar to a closed circuit television to monitor part of my home (I just want to have some fun to look at my cat having his meal tongue.gif ). I have found a package which seems to be useful: http://packages.debian.org/etch/webcam-server I wonder if anyone here has did it before? Any suggestions, advices...? BTW, I just wonder how to limit the access to captured images/ video (with login/ password/ etc)? I don't want my home to be exposed to the Internet. Thanks everyone. |
I could swere that i answared this.
I used motion on LAMP machine on debian etch few month ago just for that. the cool thing is that it is for surveillance so you can or: Capture all information. Capture only on change. Also i used only one usb cam and 5 Lan cams. You can't use more then one usb web cam on USB1.1 (Bandwitch issues) donno about USB2.0 Regards ,... Jabka Atu || bsh83.blogspot.com |
