web based music organizer
I use a Ubuntu headless home server to store the family data (docs, photo, mp3, movies, ...). Since it's a headless server I'm using mainly webbased admin tools.
Now I'm looking for a tool to organize my mp3's. Functionality should include tag editing and renaming of mp3's. Playlist management or mp3 player is not needed.
I've been looking around, but so far, I've come up with nothing.
Anyone has an idea??
Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion.
I've had a look a Ampache. The first impression is very good.
However, it lacks some key functionality I need: Adding more mp3's to the same catalog.
As far as I can see, I cannot import new mp3 in my catalog, reviewing and correcting id3 tags, and then rename the mp3s according to the tags to my catalog location.
Maybe I'm overlooking existing functionality, in which case I would be grateful being corrected.
Otherwise I would be interested in alternatives.
The functionality I'm looking for has been nicely implemented in Helium Music Manager for Windows.

To add new mp3's to your existing catalogue is done by viewing that catalogue then using the appropriate option. You can rename the mp3's from within the program too. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you are asking for.

Hi
First: Thanks, I really appreciate your help.
I try to keep my catalog clean. So, whenever I want to add music, I want to control how it is added.
First step is to add the music to the catalog.
The music is not in the catalog and can be identified by the file(s) location.
Next step is to edit id3 tags, depending on where the music is coming from the tags may or may not be correctly entered.
At this point it would helpful if I can retrieve the ID3 tags using an internet source. The idea is to tag an album in one go with downloaded ID3 tags.
The last step of this import process would be to rename/move the file(s) into the location for the catalog, with filenames based on the updated ID3 tags (i.e. $CATALOG_LOCATION/$artist/$album/$song).
So far I haven't found a way to do this with Ampache.
Adding music seems to require a copy of the files to the catalog directory after which you rescan the volume.
Tag editing is a manual process, and I haven't seen the rename option.
