Want to download FC6 with kernel 2.6.20 or higher.
 

Hello All,

I have been looking for quite some time to download the complete Fedora Core 6 Linux OS with kernel 2.6.20 or higher. So far I only have got complete OS with 2.6.18 kernel only.


So far sites have been ascribing about 2.6.20 as an update only.
I'm asking it for my customer who is naive user and I do not want him to download 2.6.18 and later upgrade it to the 2.6.20.

Is there any specific reason why it needs to have a 2.6.20.x kernel? You can always download/install a older version and then update the system with yum.

Yes, I can do it. However, my customer who is in a different geographic location is not that skilled to do it. He is just a naive user.

Is it not possible to get the updated version of complete OS?

Ok, I finally decided to follow this link. I downloaded the Jigdo download manager and the .jigdo file as well.
My .jigdo file is : FC-20070401-6-i386.jigdo


One running the command:
./jigdo-lite root/Desktop/FC6/FC-20070401-6-i386.jigdo

I get the following ( errors ):

I have placed my FC6(kernel 2.6.18) CD 1 in the CD-ROM and it is mounted as /media/FC-6 i386 Disc 1.

Please suggest what could be the probable cause of this error and how should I go about resolving this.

Try again, it is working for me..............

% yum update

No more complicated than that :scratch:
