vsftpd rpm compile time options

Hello All,

I need to setup vsftpd with ssl support. I would think it came compiled with ssl support, but how does one know?

Every time I try to start vsftpd with ssl=YES it won't start. Don't see any errors in /var/log/messages. I have also created a self signed certificate to use with ssl.

I come from the BSD world where the entire O/S and packages are built with complete control.

How does one know the options the package maintainer used with the package.

RedHat Enterprise is the O/S version.

Your input would be appreciated.

Read the spec file from the src.rpm file, some selected snippets from the extracted vsftpd-2.0.5-8.src.rpm spec file;

BuildRequires: openssl-devel
Requires: openssl

Patch7: vsftpd-2.0.1-build_ssl.patch

* Wed Nov 09 2005 Radek Vokal <> 2.0.3-12
- rebuilt against new openssl
- close std file descriptors

So my guess is that it is built with ssl support.

And this supports my guess;
