This is a quote from the /etc/vsftpd.conf file.
Code:
# You may specify an explicit list of local users to chroot() to their home
# directory. If chroot_local_user is YES, then this list becomes a list of
# users to NOT chroot().
#chroot_local_user=YES
#chroot_list_enable=YES
# (default follows)
#chroot_list_file=/etc/vsftpd.chroot_list

Hi,

If you want just one specific user to be able to chroot in a different directory that his homedir you need the user_config_dir to override the default behavior.
In vsftpd.conf, just before the "chroot_local_user=YES", add
Code:
user_config_dir=/etc/vsftpd_user_conf
Then create the file /etc/vsftpd_user_conf/bird, containing
Code:
local_root=/foo
Restart the service and test.

Regards
